This is another collaboration with Joel Hamilton that we did when I was living in Dallas. It reflects disenchantment with (post) modern living, including reductionist catch phrases for those unfortunate enough to be initiated in the jargon.
I got the post-modern blues
I just can't make sense of it all
I’m helpless and abused
Why can't you here me call
I read a little book the other day
That stuff was really off the wall
Post-modern theory
Is really getting out of hand
My mind’s so tired and weary
It’s too hard to understand
My baby done gone post-modern
Treats me like the invisible man
Postmodern living
Nearly made a wreck of me
But a downhearted disposition
Ain't the way its supposed to be
Lets go find some hunter-gatherers
Or maybe live down by the sea
You know we're crazy
We're postmodern too
We’re crazy and we're postmodern
We just can't help but lose
But my baby she's post-modern
And she really lights my fuse
