This song was written while I was living in Dallas, during a time when my friend Joel Hamilton and I were writing collaboratively. Later someone pointed out to me that the name of the song, and certain proclivities in it, seemed to parallel the fictional rabbit in the 1950 film, Harvey, starring James Stewart. This was an unintended but interesting observation.
Harvey's on the highway
Stomach wearing thin
Asks for some directions
And takes one on the chin
Harvey has fajitas
Sizzling on his plate
But he goes for the corona
They'll just have to wait
On his, attitude
Harvey's, attitude, doesn't quit
Harvey's sideways glance
In a dirty parking lot
Didn't take too long
To make things pretty hot
A cheap bottle of liquor
In Harvey's hotel room
Will make him feel much better
Until they lower the boom
On his, attitude
Harvey's, attitude, doesn't quit
Harvey’s on the highway
Looking for a thrill
But he has to pay the piper
When he presents the bill
Harvey's at the doctor
Singing his last song
He says I'd like to help you son
But your attitude is wrong
It’s your, attitude
Harvey's, attitude, doesn't quit
